My name is REGINALD TURNER and I have been a member of the State Board of Education since my appointment by Gov. Jennifer Granholm in 2003. Clearly, there is much work to be done. That is why I am asking for your vote to keep me on the Board of Education so that I can continue to work for you, for our children, and for Michigan.

Our primary goal is to improve student achievement, especially in our schools that are not making adequate progress. We must create a culture of education in Michigan that supports universal literacy, that makes adequate educational resources available for all children, that recognizes the need for a curriculum that will enable our children to compete and excel in the world economy of the future, and that prepares our children for active and effective citizenship.
